Headteacher Mrs Katie Butler
I have been teaching for 19+ years and I am proud to be part of a profession that develops children's learning, skills, confidence and lives. I taught in a number of schools prior to taking up headship at Bawdsey CEVCP School in 2016. This included a number of leadership roles the last being a Deputy at a school in Ipswich with over 370 pupils. I have an Early years specialism in education and a creative background before this with my degree being a Batchelor of Arts (Hons), which I have latterly extended with a Master of Arts (Hons) in education. I am lucky enough to have an extremely supportive family and my husband and I have two sons which keep us on our toes and 3 slightly mad black cats and a corn snake called 'Fluffy'. I love the family feel of Bawdsey school and how we can help children and their families. From September 2020 i will be Executive Head teacher of Orford Primary School alongside Bawdsey CEVCP School and I am again lucky enough to now lead two family and community orientated schools in Suffolk.
Mrs Kerry Simoes
Starfish Class - Nursery & Reception
I have been teaching since 2000, after graduating from Homerton College, Cambridge University. I always knew I wanted to teach, and spent my first years teaching in primary and first schools in Suffolk. I then developed an interest in special needs and taught in a special secondary school. I also taught functional skills to special needs students in an inclusive 6th form college.
After my third child, I missed teaching in primary and early years and began searching for a job. I was over the moon when a post came up at Bawdsey as all of my children have flourished here. I am enjoying giving something back to Bawdsey School, after the amazing years we have spent here as a family.

Seahorse Class - Years 1, 2 & 3
I have been working at Bawdsey School since 2005, taking the role of year 3/4 teacher in 2014. I try to create an atmosphere of care and nurturing, where every child feels valued.
My particular interest is in PE. Being active has obvious health benefits but also helps with concentration and confidence. I therefore try to deliver opportunity for activity throughout the curriculum.
I have 4 children, all of whom have attanded Bawdsey School and have now moved on to high school and university. I feel that they have received a fantastic education within a caring setting during their time here and I am proud to be part of this tradition.

Turtle Class - Years 4, 5 & 6
Whilst at college I worked as a life skills tutor for adults with special needs, this further developed my interest in teaching and I decided to pursue a teaching career. I then went to on to complete a degree in Education Studies and Special Educational Needs and Inclusion. During my time at university and through undertaking a series of placements I decided that mainstream UKS2 was my preferred setting/year group and therefore I was incredibly lucky to be offered the post as y5/6 teacher at Bawdsey. I have recently moved to Suffolk from Lincolnshire and have been made to feel very welcome into the community at Bawdsey. I aim to continue the community feeling in the classroom and provide a caring and nurturing environment for all pupils.
Years 5 & 6, whose age (at the start of the year) are 9 and 10 - There are 15 children in the class. I see my main objectives as preparing the children for the next phase of their education. That is why I am so passionate about building their reading, writing and mathematics capabilities to as high standard as possible. However, I also recognise that children should be well motivated and enjoy their learning. So class 3 includes many exciting and practical projects throughout the two years, for example class 3 participate in lots of sporting opportunities such as football and basketball tournaments. We also participate in the Lego League competitions and we enjoy lots of trips to ensure our learning goes beyond the classroom
We also are involved with lots of community based projects, we have recently been gardening at the Suffolk Punch Trust and participated in an art exhibition there. We used various methods to created different pieces of artwork that revolved around horses. We have also been part of a Penninsula Armistice art exhibition in which we created different images of poppies.
