Rounders 6th June 2018
Match Report
On Wednesday 6th June 8 children travelled to Wolverstone to take part in the School Games rounders competition. This is a new competition run by the School Games as it is a game that has many variations in the rules! Each team had 18 balls to score as many full rounders and half rounders as they could.
Our first match was against Chelmondiston and gave us a chance to settle our nerves, it was a close game with Bawdsey coming out on top by only one rounder. This gave us the confidence to play our next games against Otley and Ipswich High School, these games were very close but we managed to win both by only half a rounder each time! This meant that we were the winners of our league and would go on to play St. Mary’s, Woodbridge in the final for first and second place. Unfortunately, our winning streak ended here and we were defeated by 6 and a half rounders to 4.
The team played very well and one of the teachers from Ipswich High School mentioned how well our children played as a team. Gavin had a fantastic tournament and managed to score several rounders, as well as fielding well and managing to make a couple of catches. Ayla should also be mentioned as she was our youngest player and managed to make ’all important’ several half rounders.
Well done to everyone who played, this is a fantastic result, being placed second for such a small school is quite an achievement. Everyone was a delight and represented Bawdsey very well.
