We have gained our gold award for the fourth year running! On Thursday 15th November Ali Furlong came into assembly to present us with our gold sports award. School Games presents the award to schools who try to develop sport within their school. We have to ensure that all our children have access to good quality sports provision during lessons and clubs. We have to encourage children who do not enjoy traditional sports and have introduced the Bawdsey Bolt and allow those that don’t run in the morning to wear the pedometers during playtime. We have also purchased scooters to encourage children to be active. We are also required to develop links between ourselves and local sports clubs and have invited clubs to run sessions throughout the year. We are also required to enter School Games competitions and provide training for staff.
This is a very great achievement, Ali told us there are 24,000 schools eligible to join the organisation and 20,000 are registered. Only 2,000 of those schools have gained the gold award, this puts us in the top 10% in the country. We are delighted at this achievement.
