Remembrance Sunday Concert at Shottisham Church
On Sunday 9th November there was a concert in aid of the Shottisham Church Tower fund. It was a mixed concert with local adult and child performers. Several Bawdsey pupils and two old pupils, now at Farlingaye played at this concert. As it was Remembrance Sunday, the concert started with the audience singing ‘Keep the home fires burning’ accompanied by the accordion and Samuel Burkitt on Cornet and Lucy Kitson on Alto Flute. The Bawdsey pupils that played were as follows:-
Pianists:-
Daisy Barrington –Phillips, Allegretto by Wohlfahrt.
Megan Enslin, Dancing Bear and Skip to my Lou.
Clara Enslin, Indian tomtoms and The Pipers are coming.
Libby Baker, Post horn gallop.
Violinists:-
Clara Enslin, Heading south.
Libby Baker, Villanova.
Wulfie O’Dwyer, Swanee River.
All three then played The hundred pipers.
Mercutio O’Dwyer, Trick or Treat.
Samuel Burkitt played his Cello - Allegro, the 1st movement from Sonata in C, by Bréval.
Two Bawdsey ‘old girls’ also played:-
Lucy Kitson played her flute – Chanson de Matin by Elgar.
Eliza Burkitt played the piano – le Coucou by Daquin
and her Violin – Légende by Wieniawski.
