Vive La France!
We have just returned safely from another very successful visit to Normandy. Every two years we take our years 5 and 6 to the Chateau de Terte which is a PGL site in the town of Ambriere, France. The trip is a combination of PGL activities and local visits in and around Ambriere. This year we visited Ambriere itself ,where we visited a boulangerie and made croissants(you definitely don't want to know how much butter goes into a croissant or you will never eat one again!) We then completed the town trail before buying our postcards and stamps(we aren't allowed to speak a word of English!)
The children loved all the PGL activities this year which included ; canoeing, zip-wire, trapeze, archery, assault course (very muddy-just the way we like it!), abseiling and climbing wall. We also visited Fougeres castle which originates from as far back as the 10th to 11th century. There is a very informative audio guide which really helped the children's understanding of the history behind this incredible castle! We spent an afternoon at a snail farm as well as visiting a French market at Flers where the children were split into groups before buying all their ingredients for preparing a healthy and balanced, but also delicious, meal when they returned to the chateau. These were then judged before the children tucked in. Yet again the standards were extremely high as you can see from the photos attached.
The behaviour of the children was ,as always, exemplary which made the visit so enjoyable and rewarding for both adults and children. We would like to thank all the PGL staff, in particular our very talented group leader, Gabe, aka Ed Sheeran as well as our brilliant coach driver, Richard. We all had a wonderful time and will be turning our thoughts to organising our next visit in 2015!
